Absolute ban on any gathering on Holi – Strict action will be taken against violators

Kapurthala district has launched a massive campaign to ensure the vaccination for ” super spreader ” catageory like artiyas, hotliers, labourers in grain markets, shopkeepers etc and for that from Tuesday onwards vaccination will be made at more than 100 places in markets and grain markets etc.

Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Deepti Uppal and SSP Kanwardeep Kaur IPS today held a meetings with various Chambers of Commerce, Shopkeepers Association, Arhatya Association, Hotel Owners to discuss the vaccination process besides seeking cooperation from them for successful vaccination drive.

Deputy Commissioner said that in view of the rapidly increasing number of cases in the district, the cases of covid were likely to go to a high level in the next two weeks and to contain the spread ,the most important was to expedite the vaccination.

She informed the representatives of the associations that the vaccine would be launched in the markets, mandis and other public places from Tuesday as per the demand of the associations. For this 100 places have been selected in the district where people in the age group of 45 years and above can get vaccinated by showing any of their photo identity cards. Apart from this 2 mobile vaccination units would also be started which would vaccinate at Kapurthala and Phagwara.

She also said that in view of the forthcoming procurement season, a large number of people visit the mandis, hence the vaccination of artiyas and laboures is important.

District Mandi Officer Arvinder Singh said that all the market committees and mandis would witness session sites from tuesday onwards.

District Immunization Officer Dr. Randeep Singh said that till now about 15,000 people in the district have been vaccinated and no side effect have been witnessed in any case.

Making a strict warning to the covid protocol violaters , S.S.P. Kapurthala Kanwardeep Kaur said that Kapurthala is one of the 11 most affected districts of the state, hence any gathering on the occasion of Holi is strictly prohibited.

She said that stern action would be taken by the police against those violating the instructions regarding covid.

During the meeting all associations assured full support to the campaign of the district and police administration.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Rahul Chaba, SDM Virender Pal Singh Bajwa, District Mandi Officer Mr. Arvinder Singh and other officers, Presidents and representatives of various associations were also present.
