Jalandhar, May 27- A joint team of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and traffic Police challaned one heavy vehicle for using multi-tone horns/pressure horns and cracker sound emitting silencer.

The team comprising Junior Environmental Engineer (JEE) Varun Kumar along with the team of traffic Police led by Assistant Sub Inspector  (ASI) Harpreet Singh checked around 25 heavy motor vehicles and five Royal Enfield Motorcycles at Rama Mandi Chowk.

On the occasion, one heavy vehicle was issued challans for the violation of the noise pollution rules and rest were found normal. The violator would also be issued show cause notices under section 31-A of Air Act, 1981 to the violators.

The vehicle owners were also made aware of the harmful effects of the noise created by these items. The team also appealed them to stop using pressure horns in their vehicles as it causes a lot of noise pollution.
