Jalandhar, May 27- In an initiative to sensitize the young minds towards environmental protection, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) organized a painting competition in Lyallpur Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Nakodar road.

The competition was held on the theme of ‘Beat Air Pollution’ for the World Environment Day which will be celebrated on June 5.

The chief guest of competition was Senior  Environment Engineer Mr Harbir Singh.  Executive Engineer Arun Kumar Kakkar and Junior Environment Engineer Mr Varun Kumar also presided over the function.

In the competition, a total of 84 students among 200 students of gathering from Khalsa School participated among them with 24 were girls.

Addressing the gathering, Singh said that the main aim of the competition was to make the youth’s responsible citizens for the conservation of the environment.

He said that such an initiative would help in sensitizing them to various issues related to environment and developments. He added that being the future of the country, a huge responsibility lies on their shoulders to encourage the people for protecting the environment.

In the last, the paintings of three students including Abhishek, Sakshi, and Jaskirat Singh were given first, second and third prizes and the students Ravi Raj Kumar, Sarina & Homa were given consolation prizes.
