Manjeet Singh Dhesi SSP Sri Muktsar Sahib gets Positive Reception

Sri Muktsar Sahib, 15 June 2019: The swift and quick action taken by Manjeet Singh Dhesi SSP of Sri Muktsar Sahib in the woman’s brutal thrashing incident in the city has been highly appreciated by the people in particular and on social media platforms. The SSP’s quick action has received positive reception.

Gian Chand Bansal Convenor of Senior Citizens Council appreciated the SSP for taking prompt action in the brutal woman thrashing incident. He said police should act on time and without delay in such cases. We appreciate SSP’s sharpness, he said. Punjab Young Farmers Federation General Secretary Gaurav Sidhu Khema Kheda said “We laud the immediate action taken by the SSP Sri Muktar Sahib”.

Large number of people has posted comments on social media sites in praise of the swift action by Manjeet Singh Dhesi.

It may be recalled that few youths, including brothers of a local Congress councillor Rakesh Chowdary, allegedly thrashed a woman outside her residence on the Bura Gujjar road here on Friday for not repaying the money borrowed from them.

Rakesh Chowdary was elected councillor on the SAD ticket from ward no 26, but later he joined the Congress.

In the 4.09-minute video that went viral on the social media on Friday, four youths were seen dragging a woman, Meena Rani, out of her residence, abusing her and hitting her on back and other parts of the body. One neighbour woman tried to save Meena, but one of the attackers over powered and slapped her.

Sri Muktsar Sahib SSP Manjit Singh Dhesi said, “We acted immediately after the video went viral. A case has been registered against 10 persons. At present, six persons Roop Lal, Suresh, Guddi, Sunny, Shekhu and Jambo have been arrested.”

Those booked include four brothers Sunny Chaudhary, Suresh Chaudhary, Rakesh Chaudhary (municipal councillor) and Roop Lal, their mother Guddi, Hasan (son of Sunny), Renu (wife of Sunny), Jyoti (wife of Rakesh), Shekhu and Jambo, all local residents. A case of attempt to murder has been registered.

Meanwhile, the matter has reached Chief Ministers office, H.C Arora advocate has appealed the Punjab Chief Minister to honour the nine year old child who filmed the  4.09-minute video that went viral on the social media in which four youths were seen dragging a woman, Meena Rani, out of her residence, abusing her and hitting her (Author can be contacted at amritbrar2012@gmail.com 9814313405)
