DC also reviews functioning of OOAT clinic established at Government health centre Chananwal

To honor the mothers of newly born girls, a special function was organized at village Chananwal under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme. While speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Barnala said that besides honoring mothers of 32 newly born babies as many as 29 talented girls have also been felicitated for their remarkable achievements in the field of education and sports.

Deputy Commissioner Barnala Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka urged the residents to unite for the rights of women and also appealed them to unite against female feticide.

Phoolka said that daughters are an integral part of society and the biggest need of the hour is to protect the girls from female feticide. He appealed the district residents to celebrate the birth of a daughter by planting maximum saplings

During his visit to Chanawal, Deputy Commissioner also visited Government Health Centre at Chananwal and informed that around 70 patients daily visit the OOAT Clinic located inside the health centre for free treatment. He added that as it is being out patient door based module, it does not need a patient to be admitted for the drug de-addiction treatment at OOAT clinic.

He appealed the people as well as DAPOs (Drug Abuse Prevention Officers) to bring addicts to this place for free treatment and help them adjust back into the society.

On this occasion, DPO Barnala Kulwinder Singh Randhawa, CDPO Mehal Kalan Neha Singh, CDPO Barnala Arvinder Singh, CDPO Shehna Nikita Singh, BDPO Bhushan Kumar, health centre staffs, village panchayat and other prominent personalities were also present.
