Thousands of school students took to the streets of the city

School climate strike movement under the name ‘Fridays for Future’ today echoed at Bathinda.
Thousands of school students took to the streets in the city in support of Greta Thunberg and her initiative for climate change.
The students marched from MSD School to Mall crossing Dhobi Bazaar and Hospital Bazaar, carrying placards and raising slogans to save earth.
To sensitize people about risks posed by the Global Warming, Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg had initiated the movement.
Notably, Bathinda is a first city of Punjab witnessed the school climate strike movement.The Bathinda protest was led by Mannat Kaur, Masters in sustainble development from University of St Andrews, Scotland.
Calling for adults to take action and stop ruining the planet’s future, she said that by dropping their school routine on a working day, the children were making an additional point. They were conveying the feeling that natural catastrophe would make academic attainment meaningless.
