Nutritious lunch being served in 10 ‘Sanjhi Rasois’ for Rs 10
29,732 takers tasted low cost delicious food in November

The ‘Sanjhi Rasoi’ scheme launched in 2017 by Punjab Government for providing nutritious food for just Rs 10 is proving a boon for poor and needy people in Sangrur district. District is leading with 10 ‘Sanjhi Rasois’, in which low cost nutritious lunch is being provided with the strenuous efforts of District administration and Red Cross Society, Sangrur.
Giving the detail, Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Ghanshyam Thori said that the ‘Sanjhi Rasoi’ scheme is a sincere effort to provide nutritious food to the poor and needy people at very low cost. 10 ‘Sanjhi Rasois’ are running successfully in the district, which are more than other districts.
These ‘Sanjhi Rasois’ are offering meal services in sub-division Sangrur, Dhuri, Sunam, Bhawanigarh, Lehra, Moonak, Malerkotla, Dirba and Ahmedgarh as well as sub-tehsil Khanauri. In these ‘Sanjhi Rasois’ lunch being served in six days a week except Sundays or on any other special holiday. This project is witnessing a rise in takers, DC added.
In November month, 2970 people took this service and approximately 123 needy persons tasted food every day in Sangrur ‘Sanjhi Rasoi’.
Similarly, in Dhuri 70 takers daily and 1820 in a month, In Sunam 86 daily and 2247 in a month, Bhwanigarh daily 81 and 1947 in a month, Lehra 147 daily and 3822 in a month, Moonak 135 daily and 3515 in a month, Khanauri 118 daily and 3092 in a month, Malerkotla 116 daily and 3016 in a month, Dirba 59 daily and 1527 in a month, Ahmedgarh 230 daily and 5776 takers have tasted food in November month.
In November month 29,732 takers has availed services at 10 ‘Sanjhi Rasois’ in the district. Cooking of seasonal vegetables and nutritional pulses has been ensured in the ‘Sanjhi Rasois’ through SDMs, Thori added.
‘’With the strenuous efforts of Deputy Commissioner Thori and under the guidance of SDM Sangrur Babandeep Singh Walia, we are providing nutritious food at ‘Sanjhi Rasoi’ of Sangrur. We make sure that we cook in clean and hygienic conditions and ensure proper arrangements of seating for takers. From 1st July, 2017 to till now 1, 30,113 takers have been tasted food at Sanjhi Rasoi of Sangrur and there are lakhs of people annually taking services of ‘Sanjhi Rasois’ in all sub-divisions. We are happy to see the response of people,’’ Apar Apaar Singh, in-charge of Sanjhi Rasoi, Sangrur added.
