Kamal Yadav IAS: A force of nature

Chandigarh: 5 September 2021: Kamal Yadav IAS is one of the finest officers of Punjab who has recently completed his central deputation with a good mandate and returned to the state to join as Director Information & Public relations. His deputation came to end on 22nd May 2021, but the Chandigarh administration did not relieve him, due to Covid situation and he was given further three months extension.

He has been chosen as Director Information & Public Relation by the chief minister’s office with an aim to take steps to spruce up and redecorate the sulking image of the Capt Amarinder government which is already facing a huge anti-incumbency atmosphere due to certain factors as per the senior political observers.

Kamal Yadav: A force to be reckon with

It is very commonly observed that Kamal Yadav, who belongs to 2003 batch of the Punjab cadre, is a very popular officer among the people of the state due to his positive aura and exceptional approach towards the problems of the common populace. People, who love him, call him a force of nature, due to his strong personality and character.

Supporting the views of young lawyer, Former Mayor of BMC Baljit Singh Bir Behman said Kamal Yadav has served as Commissioner of MC with me for almost one year; we have taken up various projects during his tenure. He is full of energy and a force of nature, we need such officers.

Kamal Yadav has done excellent work as a Commissioner of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation besides CEO of Smart City project. Large numbers of small and big projects were initiated by him and taken up to their conclusive end in the three years term. There is long list of good works done by him as Commissioner of MC.

Rs 309 crore projects were completed out Rs 1200 crore initiated

Projects worth Rs. 1200 crore were started and taken up by Chandigarh Smart City Limited, which includes major projects like Public Bike Sharing, Legacy Waste Bio Mining at Daddumajra and E-governance among other projects in the city in 2019. Out of total Rs 1200 crore projects, Rs 309 crore were completed during his three year tenure.

Pilot project for 24×7 water supplies in Manimajra and up gradation of five Sewerage Treatment Plants and Construction of one new Sewerage Treatment Plant at Kishangarh were also taken up.

Battery Operated Cart (10 nos.) were launched the for movement of elderly and disabled people in Sector 17.  E-carts have low maintenance cost, Eco-friendly, no noise pollution, easy to drive and last but not the least livelihood, e-carts investing is very less and fare is pocket friendly. This form of transportation is said to be best for short distance travel.

These e-carts ply in the plaza of sector-17. The citizens can avail the services free of cost from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.

Initiatives taken to deal with Corona crisis

COVID war room was set up in Chandigarh which was functional 24×7. Arrangements were made to provide the deserving poor and homeless people cooked food every day. The building and construction board was mandated to pay the migrant workers Rs 3000 on a monthly basis during the Corona period.

Chandigarh became the first city to label the houses where people were home quarantined and later on other cities of Punjab and Haryana adopted the same practice.

During the Corona time, a mobile application was launched to keep tab on the people who were put under quarantine and if someone was found breaking the quarantine norm or moves out, the controlling office immediately got an alert and prompt action was taken by the administration.

Three year tenure of Kamal Yadav is the period when the people of Chandigarh witnessed a massive development activity. Bureaucrats shadow & trial wishes him a success in his new responsibility.
