Sultanpur Lodhi, 18 May, 2019: To promote eco-friendly theme, a green polling station has been established in 28 Sultanpur Lodhi assembly constituency of District Kapurthala.
It was conceptualized keeping in mind that the biggest need of the hour is to save the environment and the selected polling station no.109 at government senior secondary school, Paramjitpur has a very nice tree cover thus providing the much needed shade in the scorching summer season.
In addition to all the assured minimum facilities mandated by the election commission of India (ECI), in this polling station, water will be served in earthen pots and kullars; there shall be no use of plastic in any form.
The room where the polling will take place has been decorated with a theme centered round the cause of nature. “The each voter will be given a plant sapling to promote the cause of clean environment further” said SDM cum ARO Sultanpur Lodhi Navneet Kaur Bal.
DPS Kharbanda DC cum DEO appreciated the concept and said “It will give a strong message in today’s modern world when plastic is ruling homes and offices. This might be the beginning, he said.
