Avneet is posted as SP CAW in Fazilka

Jalandhar 18 December 2021: The first annual conference of PPMM was held in KMV College Jalandhar on 18th December to recognize the good work done by the Punjab Police Mahila Mittar (PPMM) and to deliberate upon the challenges faced since inceptions and discuss the way forward.

Ms Sonali Mishra IPS IGP BSF Frontier was the chief guest on this occasion.

Ms Gurpreet Kaur Deo IPS ADGP Community affairs division Punjab who also holds the additional charge of the women and child affairs Punjab welcomed the dignitaries and participants and briefed all about the vision behind the PPMM and its working.

She further said PPMM has received 117816 complaints out of which 11617 complaints (98.9%) have been resolved. The 851 women police personal posted as PPMM are making a mark as the woman face in the Punjab Police who is perceived as a friend, counselor and guide to the women, children and senior citizens. It has also resulted in high self esteem of the women police officials.

The Punjab Police Mahila Mitar (PPMM) was launched in Punjab to commemorate International women’s day on 8th March 2021. Women help desks were setup in 382 Police stations of the state. Women police officials posted in the police stations were designated as Punjab Police Mahila Mittar (PPMM).

It is one of the proactive steps taken by the Punjab Police to ensure that the vulnerable sections of the society can visit the police stations with complete confidence that they will be attended to with due care and compassion by the police officials. Physical presence of the women police officials in a police station invokes a sense of security, comfort and reassurance for citizens, particularly women and children.
