Principal Secretary (Planning) Punjab Government Jaspal Singh said that it was the responsibility of each and every person to inherit a healthy and clean environment to the coming generations.

He was here today to review the activities being under taken to curb the trend of setting fire to paddy straw/waste at District Administrative Complex Hoshiarpur. DC Isha Kalia, ADC (Gen) Harpreet Singh Sudan were also present on the occasion.

Principal Secretary Jaspal Singh said that there was a time when there was no water scarcity problem as our elders left a healthy environment for us in heritage, but today the condition of even the underwater is that at many places the bottled water is used for drinking.

“We all need to jointly deal with this critical situation. It is the responsibility of every person to inherit a healthy environment to the coming generations so that they do not have to suffer due to lack of clean water, soil and air, he said.

To provide our future generations a healthy life, it is very important to give up the the straw/residue burning, he said.

The Principal Secretary said that a plan would be prepared not to allow sowing paddy on the panchayat land being offered on lease in the villages. The DDPOs have been asked to make farmers aware on their own level, so that the trend of straw burning may be curbed.

He directed the nodal officers and co-ordinating officers appointed to check straw burning to conduct regular visits and keep strict surveillance over the villages concerned.

He said that the combine harvesters without Super SMS straw reaper should be seized immediately. He also directed agriculture department to make the farmers in the areas nearby the Kandi Canal, aware on crop diversification and micro irrigation.

He also directed the BDPOs to act seriously to spread awareness in the villages to tackle the trend of straw burning.

He reviewed the activities being done by the Punjab Pollution Control Board and directed that strict action should be taken along with heavy fines as per the rules when the case of straw burning comes up. He directed the Agriculture Department to make the farmers aware of customer hiring centres, so that the needy farmers could hire the paddy straw / waste management machines from these centres.

Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia said 61 farm machinery banks have been set up in the district. In these banks, 209 machines were provided at 80% subsidy. In addition, individually 30 machines have been provided at 50% subsidy.

Village Wise 595 Nodal Officers have been appointed to make the farmers aware about the damage caused by the straw burning. In addition to this, 32 coordinating officers have also been deployed in the district of which one such officer has been deployed over every set of 20 villages to assist the nodal officers.

Nodal officers, co-ordinating officers and leading farmers were also present on this occasion besides the officials of Agriculture Department and Punjab Pollution Control Board.

Director Information and Public Relations Department Anindita Mitra on Tuesday reviewed the arrangements for the digital light and sound show to showcase life and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji to be held on October 16 and 17 in grounds of Lyallpur Khalsa College at Jalandhar.

The Director, accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma, inspected the ground where this mega event would be held at 7 pm to 7:45 pm and 8:30 pm to 9:15 pm on October 16 and 17 to commemorate the 550thparkashpurab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.

She said that in the evenings of October 16 and 17 the venue would be transformed into a light-and-sound extravaganza.

Anindita Mitra said that audience would experience an immersive Light and Sound show on the life and Journey of Guru Nanak ji during the outdoor show which unfolds in a multiple part story, immersed in a beautiful symphony of Colourful visual projections, Advanced lasers – all led by a Creative Soundtrack.

The Director further said that light and sound show would beautifully project Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s philosophy in the form of his universal message to our society. She said that through the show the ethos of tolerance, peace, communal harmony, women empowerment and protection of natural resources would be brought alive.

Anindita Mitra further said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s efforts to promote social equality stand out as an example for all of us, which on this auspicious occasion would be showcased to all in right letter and spirit.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner informed Anindita Mitra about elaborate arrangements made by the administration for this light and sound show. He said that the administration would leave no stone unturned for making this mega event a huge success.

“The Punjab Government is not only conducting light and sound shows and mobile digital museums dedicated to the 550th Prakash Purb of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji but in a first of its kind initiative, the Floating Multi Media Light and Sound Shows would be held in the Beas river which are sure to provide spiritual experience of lifetime to the sangat. A 100 feet long, 40 feet wide and 24 feet tall model would be erected in the Beas River near village Terkiana.”

This was disclosed here today by the Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Isha Kalia who also said that special functions dedicated to the Prakash Purb are being held by the State Government at villages Terkiana and Gandowal.

The Deputy Commissioner further divulged that the floating multimedia light and sound shows would be held at village Terkiana near Beas River daily on 19th and 20th October from 6:45-7:30 PM and 8-8:45 PM.

The Deputy Commissioner also added that each show would be of 45 minutes duration which would depict the life history of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. A total of 4 shows would be held at Terkiana after which the model would reach Gandowal where the shows would be held on 23rd and 24th October.

Patiala, 15 October 2019: If all of us come together, we can make a real and meaningful difference in helping and keeping check on the Dengue in our localities. Keeping this objective in the mind, the Patiala administration is making extra ordinary efforts to contain Dengue in the district. They have launched a Patiala Dengue Monitoring App (PDMA). It’s a good effort to involve people in the fight against the Dengue.

Confirming this Patiala Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit told APS Brar that “It has two main purposes, i.e. informatory and reporting. The citizens can access information of all do’s and don’ts about dengue, prevention strategies and nearby dengue testing centres”.

Elaborating more Kumar Amit said “Further, the citizen can go to ‘check-up’ link to check for the dengue symptoms and will be directed to the nearby testing centre. The citizen can report the possible breeding sites through this app”.

It can be easily accessed on the cell phone. Bit.ly/dma-patiala.

The information on the app can be assessed by Officials of District Administration, Municipal Corporation, Health Department to monitor the cases in district Patiala.

Prominent social activist and member of INTACH, Opinder Kaur Sekhon welcomed the initiative of the district administration and appealed to all the citizens of Patiala to use this App and try to reduce Dengue to be reduced drastically.

Joint Secretary of GoI holds parley with top brass of the state government to finalise arrangements

In order to streamline the arrangements for the 550th parkash purab of the Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, the officers of the Government of India and Punjab government today held detailed deliberations for making elaborate arrangements for the mega event.

Chairing the meeting, Joint Secretary Ministry of Cultural Affairs Arun Goel said that both the governments would make foolproof arrangements for the ensuing gala events.

He said that both the governments were committed for celebrating this event in an unsurpassed manner. Goel said that no stone would be left unturned for ensuring smooth and hassle free conduct of the event.

The Joint Secretary asked all the departments to complete their ongoing work in a time bound manner. He said that all the works must be completed within the stipulated time frame. Goel also asked the officers of both the centre and state government to work in unison with each other to make this event a huge success.

On the occasion Principal Secretary Tourism and Culture Affairs Vikas Pratap, Principal Secretary Local Government A Venuprasad, Principal Secretary Transport K Sivaprasad, Principal Secretary PWD Hussan Lal, Secretary Water Supply and Sanitation Jaspreet Talwar and Secretary Information and Public Relations Gurkirat Kirpal Singh apprised the Joint Secretary about the events and projects being executed to commemorate the 550th parkash purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.

The Inspector General of Police Naunihal Singh apprised the Joint Secretary about the security arrangements. On the occasion Divisional Railway Manager apprised that Railways would be running 15 pairs of the trains for the pilgrims during the function.

Taking part in deliberations Secretary Information and Public relations Gurkirat kirpal Singh informed that to propogate the teachings of Guru Sahib, the Punjab government was organising light and sound shows at 25 locations, which includes 22 district headquarters besides historic cities sultanpur lodhi, Dera Baba Nanak and Batala.

He also said that a 45 mint multi media light and sound show on banks of Satluj and Beas river at 15 places and at Sukhna lake, Chandigarh was also being organised. Likewise, Gurkirat Kirpal Singh said that from November 4 to 15 a Multi media Light and Sound show would be organised at holy city of Sultanpur Lodhi in which 500 artists would to part.

Finance Minister Badal to initiate work on Ring Road Phase 1 on October 13

Bathinda, 12 October 2019: The long pending work of bypass from Barnala bypass to ITI Chowk (Ring road Phase-1) will commence on October 13 in the presence of Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal.

This was disclosed by K.K Aggarwal Chairman IT Bathinda

He said the ring road will be completed within 6 months and this issue has been pending since the last 10 years. It was one of the promises made by the Finance Minister Manpreet Badal which has been fulfilled. He has done lot of spade work to make it a reality.

Kewal Krishan Aggarwal told the project will cost around Rs 95 crores. The unfinished work of this four-lane road is 4.7 km long which will be completed within the stipulated time period and vehicles could start moving on the road after six months.

Chairman Improvement trust K.K Aggarwal further said that with its completion, the city will be able to get rid of traffic bottlenecks at many places and the construction of new road will reduce the travel distance of commuters. It will serve a very useful purpose to ease out the traffic of the city.

The completion of this project will not only ease the city traffic but will also reduce 6 to 8 kilometers distance for the vehicles going from Barnala side to Mansa, Dabwali and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib. he said.

To mark the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev ji , the Civil and Police officials today jointly chalked out a comprehensive plan for smooth conduct of celebration events besides facilitating pilgrims.

A meeting was held under the leadership of IG Naunihal Singh, IG Jaswinder Singh and Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Mr. DPS kharbanda where all departments have been asked to submit the official deployment plan till October 9 on the ” Parkash Purab 550″ mobile app as their physical verification would be made on October 10 at Punjab technical university kapurthala on the lines of general elections.

All officials and employees, who are to be deployed, would have a smart phone and his GPS location to be locked with server entry for better coordination for smooth conduct of the celebration.

Deputy commissioner informed that the total adjoining area of Sultanpur lodhi divided into 15 sectors and 22 posts where all 13 core departments like health , police, fire control , water supply and sanitation , local bodies , revenue , SDRF to deploy their sector officers and supporting staff.

It was also decided in the meeting that 150 swimmers and divers to be deployed by the sports wing of the Punjab police on the banks of holy bein to avoid any causality as the Gurdwara Shri Ber sahib and sultanpur kapurthala road via RCF falls along the bank of Holy Bein.

To ensure the proper medical facilities during the events Deputy Commissioner has asked the civil surgeon to moot the proposal to arrange the air ambulance with assistance from the Air force to tackle any kind of critical situation.

He also said that total 44 ambulances also to be deployed at all parkings, 3 tent cities and other important points. Besides that each number of bike ambulances also to be deployed in the city to provide medical facilities to the needy ones.

It was also decided to issue separate passes for VVIPs, city residents , officials on duty , sewadars performing langar sewa, media persons etc .

Deputy Commissioner has also asked the officilas from MC to seal the three old buildings which was declared unsafe in the city.

13,369 youth provided jobs of their choice during 5th Mega Job Fair

District SAS Nagar, led by a young Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan, today touched another milestone, when the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh bestowed upon special award to the district for generating much more employment for the youth than the other districts of the state.

On behalf of Deputy Commissioner, District Employment and Business Officer Harpreet Kaur Brar and Deputy CEO Manjesh Kumar received award from Chief Minister in the function held at Chamkaur Sahib (Roopnagar) on Saturday.

It is pertinent to mention that total 13,369 youngsters of the district had been selected by renowned companies, while 3808 were identified for self employment during recently held 7 day long 5th Mega Job Fairs under the ambitious ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission’.

Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister for this coveted award, Girish Dayalan said that seven Mega job fairs were held in the district from September 20th to 30th, in which 21,977 candidates participated. Of them, 13,369 were selected and 441 candidates shortlisted by the representatives of multi-national and national companies, 3808 candidates identified for self employment and 520 were selected to impart skill training.

Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and CEO, District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises  Sakshi Sawhney informed that due to the strenuous efforts of the Punjab Government and district administration, prominent leading companies such as Amazon, Maruti Suzuki, ICICI Banks, companies like Pujara Healthcare and Mahindra and Mahindra reached in job fairs and youngsters got jobs of their choice.

Administration has provided jobs to more than 10000 youth

Jalandhar, October 5-

Acknowledging the concerted efforts made by the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma to provide jobs to the unemployed youth, the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today felicitated the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh for steering the district to second position in job creation across the state.

In a function held at Chamkaur Sahib, the Chief Minister felicitated the Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Chief Executive Officer District Bureau of Employment and Entrepreneur for providing job to 10445 jobs in 11 days from September 19 to September 30. During these days the district administration had organised six job fairs across the district during which these youth were given jobs. Jalandhar has secured second position by offering jobs to 10445 youth whereas SAS nAgar stood first by providing around 13000 Jobs.

Lauding the efforts made by Jalandhar Administration the Chief Minister said that this initiative of the administration would go a long way in making youth self reliant. Describing these jobs as stepping stones for the future success of the youth, he said that these jobs would help in bringing out youth of the unemployment cycle in thereby making them active partners in socio-economic growth of the state. Captain Amarinder Singh hoped the administration would continue to make further efforts to implement his government’s flagship `Ghar Ghar Rozgar & Karobar Mission’ scheme zealously.

Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner said that this recognition has filled them with more humility and responsibility to serve the people with dedication and commitment. He said that the bureau would ensure that more and more youth were benefitted from the flagship schemes of the state government. Kulwant Singh said that every effort would be made for this noble cause.

Jiwan Jot Kaur PCS joins as Additional MD of PRTC

Patiala, 4th October 2019: Jiwan Jot Kaur PCS assumes charge as Additional MD of PRTC on Friday at Patiala. She has been transferred from Ludhiana recently.

Earlier, Jiwan Jot Kaur has served as SDM of Nawanshahr from March 2014 to October 2016 and later as DTO Hoshairpur from October 2016 to August 2017.

During her tenure as DTO at Hoshiarpur, she had taken keen interest in the implementation of safe school vahan policy and took strict action against illegal buses especially school buses plying in the district. She had also been in the news for recording an audio song for the voter awareness programs in 2017 elections, which got good appreciation.

Jiwan Jot Kaur has also done good work as Deputy Director of Local bodies Patiala and it was her hard work efforts that Bhadson became first ODF ULB of Punjab in 2018. Bhadson came first in cleanliness and Moonak came in citizen feed in the northern region in sarvekhan 2018. In 2019 Kharar and Dirba ULBs got award from the Union Minister of state Hardeep Singh Puri.

After taking over as AMD of PRTC, Jiwan Jot Kaur while interacting with APS Brar said “I will make efforts to streamline the functioning of the corporation”.
