On the auspicious occasion of the 550th Prakash Purab celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and under the directions of Government of Punjab, District Administration, Kapurthala and Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) joined hands by launching “Shramdaan” today – on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi – for making Sultanpur Lodhi the first single-use Plastic-free city of Punjab.

Er. DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala and Prof SS Marwaha, Chairman, PPCB led the campaign the campaign from the heart of the holy city from Talwandi Chaudhrian Road by administering oath to the residents and school students that they will shun the use of single-use plastic, and will help propagate this message in the society.

In addition to the administrative officials, officials of PPCB, Municipal Council, Sultanpur Lodhi, Education Department and the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala joined hands with about 500 school students, who spread out in fifteen teams, thirteen of which went to the thirteen wards of Sultanpur Lodhi town under stewardship of the respective Municipal Councillors while the rest two fanned out to distribute compostable carry bags and jute bags amongst the 600 odd shopkeepers in the town.‎

In the wards and the market areas, the teams especially the school children created door-to-door awareness among residents and sensitised them about protecting environment through using biodegradable products,‎ and distributed 4000 jute bags in residential areas and about 2 lakh compostable carry bags, which get decomposed within three months, to the shopkeepers free of cost.

The teams also used pick-sticks to pick plastic waste from the waste material lying in and around shops and houses, and collected about 400kg single-use plastic in just few hours, which was handed over to the MC, Sultanpur Lodhi with directions to further hand over the same to the recyclers.

The residents were informed about the ill-effects about using single-use plastic.

During this campaign, Rahul Chaba, ADC (General), Kapurthala, Navneet Kaur Bal, Asst. Commissioner (General), Kapurthala, Charumita, SDM, Sultanpur Lodhi, Er. Gurinderjit S. Majithia, Chief Environmental Engineer, PPCB, ‎Er. Harbir Singh, SEE, Er. Arun Kakkar, EE, Er. Kuldip Singh, EE, Baljit Singh, EO, MC, Sultanpur Lodhi, Bikram Singh, Dy DEO (Secondary), Kapurthala and other officials of PPCB were also present.

Hoshiarpur declares its District Administrative Complex as “Polythene Carry Bag Free”.

District Administration Hoshiarpur on 2nd October declares its District Administrative Complex comprising of 27 departments and 625 employees as “Polythene Carry Bag Free”.

This was announced by Isha Kalia Deputy Commissioner of Hoshiarpur, while addressing a gathering at DAC.

She said “The aim is to lead by example and give further boost to the campaign to make city Polythene Carry Bag Free”.

The process involved continuous effort of about a month during which the departments were sensitized through regular meetings and floor supervisors were deputed to inspect each office thereafter, she further added.

A state-level ceremony was held at the District Administrative Complex on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Later a peace march was organised at 8 am, which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia. She also led the march.

The peace march began at the District Administrative Complex, returning from the Mahilpur Adda, Shimla Pahadi and Service Club, returned to the DA Complex. During this time, the polythene in the march route was also picked up, to give the message of non-use of polythene.

SSP Gaurav Garg, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G)Harpreet Singh Sudan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Harbir Singh, SDM,  Amit Sreen, District Heads of Departments and about 400 students and players from different schools participated.

Floral tributes were offered to Mahatma Gandhi ji before flagging off the Peace March by Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia. . Later, addressing the gathering, DC said, “District Administration hereby declares its District Administrative Complex comprising of 27 departments and 625 employees as “Polythene Carry Bag Free”.

All departments have now been able to certify that Polythene is not used within their offices.

The canteens/ other vends were also checked continuously for non- usage of Polythene Carry bags. Sale counter for jute and cloth bags made by SHGs was set up for staff and visitors during last 15 days.

Now for visitors, bags have been made available through Municipal Corporation so that they can be provided with an alternative, free of cost for next 10 days.

ਉਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਸਭਾ ਦੀ ਸਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਨਾਲ ਬਣੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਪੋਰਟਲ ਤੇ ਅਪਲੋਡ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਪਿੰਡ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਤ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਗ੍ਰਾਂਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੇਗੀ।

ਉਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਯੋਜਨਾਬੰਦੀ ਉਲੀਕਣ ਦੀ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸ਼ਖਤ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਕੁਤਾਹੀ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਵਿਭਾਗੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣੇਗੀ।

ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਹੋਰ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਧੀਕ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਸ: ਐਚ.ਐਸ. ਸਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਦਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਦਾ ਸਮੁਚਿਤ ਭੌਤਿਕ, ਆਰਥਿਕ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਉਪਲਬੱਧ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸ਼ੋ੍ਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਯੋਜਨਾਬੰਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਣੀ ਹੈ।

ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਦਾ ਪਲਾਨਿੰਗ ਯੁਨਿਟ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਸਰਪੰਚ, ਚਾਰ ਪੰਚ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਔਰਤ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਐਸ.ਸੀ. ਪੰਚ ਸਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਸਵੈ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਸਮੂਹ, ਨਹਿਰੂ ਯੁਵਕ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਦਾ ਮੈਂਬਰ, ਏ.ਐਨ.ਐਮ. ਆਸ਼ਾ ਵਰਕਰ ਆਦਿ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਇਹ ਪਲਾਨ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਇਜਲਾਸ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਇਹ ਪਲਾਨ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਮੌਕੇ ਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਵਸੀਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਕਰੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਹਲਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਸਲੇਸ਼ਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਲਾਨ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੁਸ਼ਣ ਰਹਿਤ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ, ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ, ਬਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ, ਬਾਲ ਮਜਦੂਰੀ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਚੇਤਨਾ, ਟੀਕਾਕਰਨ, ਸੰਸਥਾਗਤ ਜਣੇਪੇ ਆਦਿ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਗਰੁਕਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਯੋਜਨਾਬੰਦੀ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਇਸ ਯੋਜਨਾਬੰਦੀ ਵਿਚ 29 ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਪੱਖ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਸੀ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਣਗੇ ਕਿ ਕਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਸਭਾ

ਏ.ਡੀ.ਸੀ. ਵਿਕਾਸ ਸ: ਐਚ. ਐਸ. ਸਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਯੋਜਨਾਬੰਦੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਣੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਜਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਸੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਮ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਇਜਲਾਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਤੀ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਪਤਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵੇਬਸਾਈਟ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਸੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਸਭਾ, ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾਬੰਦੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲੱਗੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਅਮਲੇ ਆਦਿ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਸਮੂਚੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

Under the Punjab Government’s flagship programme ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ Mission 9 Mega Job Fairs have been held by the District Administration Sangrur at all sub divisions in September month, which got good response of the youth of the district and renowned companies.

During these Mega Job Fairs more than 6500 youngsters have been provided various types of jobs. Apart from this many more have been selected for self-employment and skill training.

This was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Ghanshyam Thori while handing over the job letters to selected candidates at Bhai Gurdas Group of Institution College here on Monday.

During Mega Job Fair in Sangrur 1256 have been provided jobs by renowned companies. The Deputy Commissioner said that ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ Mission is proving boon for unemployed youth.

He said that 573 have been provided jobs at an employment fair in Bhawanigarh, 469 in Dhuri, 509 in Ahmedgarh, 757 in Moonak, 723 in Malerkotla, 1016 in Sunam, 569 in Lehragaga, 1079 in Dirba and 1256 youngsters got employment in job fair held at Bhai Gurdas Group of Institution College in Sangrur.

Thori also handed over the job letters on the spot to some selected candidates at Bhai Gurdas Group of Institution College in Sangrur.

On this occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Rajinder Batra, SDM Avikesh Gupta, District Employment Officer Gurtej Singh, President Industries Chamber Ghanshyam Kansal were also present.

Felicitates farmers for not burning paddy straw

Nurmahal (Jalandhar), October 1-

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today called upon the farmers to come forward for checking water and air pollution as a humble and befitting tribute to Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji on his 550th parkash purab.

Addressing the gathering during Kisan Mela organised at the Krishi Vikas Kendra here today, the Deputy Commissioner said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teaching were very close to nature and Guru Sahib had taught us to preserve the environment.

He said that at this juncture when the entire humanity was commemorating 550th parkash purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji it was our moral duty to come forward check the air and water pollution. Sharma said that it was the need of hour to ensure that precious natural resources could be preserved for our coming generations.

The Deputy Commissioner, who also felicitated the farmers for not burning the paddy straw, said that farmers should not indulge in this practice which was causing irreparable damage to the environment.

He said that the state government was already giving huge subsidies to the farmers to purchase ultra modren machinery for in situ management of the paddy straw. Sharma said that district admin would ensure fulsome support and cooperation to the farmers for this noble cause.

Lauding the efforts of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Agriculture department for holding such melas, the Deputy Commissioner said that such melas were very helpful for further sharpening the expertise of farmers.

He said that besides apprising farmers about the use of end technology in agriculture such melas were also helpful in giving vital guidance to farmers regarding crop management and soil health. Sharma urged the farmers to derive maximum mileage from such camps.

Addressing the gathering Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh also called upon the farmers to make judicious use of water. He said that all of us were duty-bound to ensure that every single drop of water was optimally utilised for well being of the humanity.

Kulwant Singh further said that water was a precious natural resource and all of should make concerted efforts for conserving it.

On the occasion eminent environmentalist Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal, Assistant Director Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kuldeep Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Naazar Singh, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Dr Ram Lubhaya, Agriculture Officer Dr Naresh Gulati and others were also present.

Preparations on pace for ‘Peace March’ and ‘Fit India

Plastic is a big threat for human life and surroundings, so it is the need of the hour to make joint efforts against the use of ‘single use plastic’. This was stated by the Deputy Commissioner, Ghanshyam Thori, while presiding over the meeting regarding Peace March, Fit India Walk and Anti Plastic Drive with officials of various departments and NGOs here today.

Thori said that the ‘Peace March’ would be held at the District headquarter and ‘Fit India Walk’ would be organised at Gram Panchayat Level on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. While running or walking, the participants would collect plastic garbage from streets and open spaces along the route and then they would dump it in the garbage bins at the end of the run. Before these events, EO of MCs, BDPOs, Sarpanch of villages, Ward councilors have to make sure to spread enough awareness about the dreadful effects of plastic, DC added.

Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the students of educational institutions should be fully awared against the use of plastic so that they can convey this message to their parents Schools must ensure to conduct lectures and other awareness activities for the students during morning assemblies.

DC Thori emphasized that after October 2, 2019, a strict action will be taken against the purchase, sale and use of polythene.

Thousands of school students took to the streets of the city

School climate strike movement under the name ‘Fridays for Future’ today echoed at Bathinda.

Thousands of school students took to the streets in the city in support of Greta Thunberg and her initiative for climate change.

The students marched from MSD School to Mall crossing Dhobi Bazaar and Hospital Bazaar, carrying placards and raising slogans to save earth.

To sensitize people about risks posed by the Global Warming, Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg had initiated the movement.

Notably, Bathinda is a first city of Punjab witnessed the school climate strike movement.The Bathinda protest was led by Mannat Kaur, Masters in sustainble development from University of St Andrews, Scotland.

Calling for adults to take action and stop ruining the planet’s future, she said that by dropping their school routine on a working day, the children were making an additional point. They were conveying the feeling that natural catastrophe would make academic attainment meaningless.

Bathinda, 25 September 2019: Two out of three posts of Assistant Registrar (A.R) in cooperative department are lying vacant in the Bathinda district.

These posts are lying vacant since 31st August after the retirement of the A.R.s posted at Rampura Phul and Bathinda. The functioning of the department has been paralysed due to the absence of these two officers.

Various schemes of state government are dealt by these offices, such as debt waiver for farmers and state run insurance schemes, so farmers and other people related with cooperative movement are suffering due to non availability of the A.R.s because charge of these posts has not been handed over to any other official of the department.

Two cooperators Harinder Pal Singh Sidhu and Hargobind Singh have urged the Registrar Cooperative Societies (RCS) Punjab to atleast handover the temporary charge to some nearby officers of the department”.

They said “The post of A.R Bathinda is based at district headquarter and temporary charge of this post must be given to any nearby posted officer that will serve a useful purpose for smooth functing”.

DC Jalandhar begins work for refilling 45 feet scoured PIT at Jania

Lohian (Jalandhar), September 24-

After completing the work of plugging the breaches on Dhussi Bandh along with river Satluj the district administration along with volunteers of Sant Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal today embarked the work of refilling 45 feet scoured pit created due to flow of water at village Jania.

Initiating the work at Jania, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner  Kulwant Singh and Baba Seechewal, said that this was a herculean task which was all the most important to further strengthen the newly constructed embankment.

He said that due to heavy flow of water during the flood this scoured pit was created at the point where the breach took place. Sharma said that the sand that had come along with the river water in the fields of the farmers would be utilized to fill this scoured pit.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the tractors and other machinery along with the volunteers of Baba Seechewal have been pumped in to accomplish this task.

He said that the work would be completed very soon to ensure that fields of the farmers were free from sand and the embankment was further consolidated. Sharma expressed gratitude to Baba Seechewal for extending fulsome support and cooperation to the administration in this noble cause.

It might be recalled that after massive efforts the 500 feet wide breach at village Jania Chahal village was today by Indian army, MNREGA workers, drainage department contractor’s labourers, skilled mechanics, Panchayats, volunteers from social and religious organisations including Sant Balbeer Singh Seechewal and others.

The breach was plugged under the direct supervision of the Indian Army which constructed a ring of boulders besides parallel plugging the breaches with sand bags bandh. A total of three lakh sand bags, two lakh cubic feet boulders and 270 quintals of Steel wire was pumped in to fill the breach.

Anti-Drug campaign of Hoshiarpur administration

Hoshiarpur, September 24

Continuing the efforts towards curbing drug abuse, District Administration Hoshiarpur today announced 11 more villages of Sub Division Dasuya (06) and Hoshiarpur (05) drug free in the ongoing anti-drug campaign. In the recent past 09 villages were declared drug free in Garhshankar and Mukerian Sub Division.

The administration after following all the guidelines on the subject has identified these villages. Strict parameters have been laid for the purpose by the Government which include reporting and recommendations of Nasha Roku Nigraan Committee, DAPOs, Master trainers, Guardians of Governance, Police department, health department, anti-narcotics wing.

On getting has taken up stringent parameters confirming to whom the villages have been declared drug free and holding open session of all residents is one of them besides multi-level independent verification of the village being drug free.

Addressing the gathering here at Distrcit Administrative Complex, Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia, IAS gave details while announcing the second list of drug-free villages declared of the district.

She further said that the list of the villages which have potential to be declared as Drug Free village was received from the STF (State Task Force) on which the administration has acted upon and taken steps to ensure that the needful is done.

This is a continuous process in which the efforts are on to make Hoshiarpur District as Drug free District. Sub Divisional Mission Teams headed by SDM concerned works on the villages and as and when SDMT finds that the villages are fit for declaring to be drug free recommend it to the District Mission Team headed by Deputy Commissioner.

DMT on being satisfied declares the villages as Drug free villages are ascertain the drug free status of the villages and in many of the villages this was still on and the work was on for it.

The villages that have qualified to attain the drug-free status in the second round are Uddra, Makkowal Chadhdi Patti, Chandidas, Chak Noor Ali, Khangwari and Bhanbhowaal of Dasuya sub-division and Nara, Tharoli, Sajjan, Akhlaspur and Brahmjeet in Hoshiarpur sub-division.

Giving details of the anti-drug campaign being run in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that all stakeholders like GoGs, DAPOs, cluster coordinators, MTs, Nasha Roku Nigran Committees and buddy groups would be pushing up the campaign and in coming days more villages would be added in the list of Drug Free Villages in the District.

To boost the morale of key players in the anti-drug campaign, the best performers among officials, DAPOs and GoGs, village Sarpanchs and Panchayats would be felicitated on Republic Day.

On the occasion, SSP Gaurav Garg, ADC Harpreet Singh Sudan, SDM Dasuya Jyoti Bala, SDM Hoshiarpur Amit Sareen, Assistant Commissioner(G)  Amit Mahajan, Head GOG Manohar Singh were also present.
