The Department, Water Supply & Sanitation, Punjab has launched ‘JAL KI BAAT’ a state level program at Village Seechewal, Jalandhar.

The program has been conducted by Er. Kuldeep Singh Saini, Superintending Engineer, Water Supply & Sanitation Circle, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur through Avtar Radio Seechewal for sensitizing the stake holders on water conservation.

Various IEC activities are being undertaken under the supervision of Kuldeep Gandhi, State Level IEC Specialist, Water Supply & Sanitation. The activities are being conducted in every village of the state to aware and sensitize the community for water management.

Er. Gagandeep Singh Walia SDE said Har Ghar Jal under Jal Shakti Mission will focus on rain water harvesting, ground water recharge and management of household waste water for reuse in agriculture and it includes plans for water conservation and provision of piped water supply connection to every household by 2022.

Er. Kuldeep Singh Saini said “Women can play an important role in water conservation; women mohalla committees have been formed in every village to understand the value of drop of water”.  Water conservation should be a social responsibility of every individual, he said.

In around 12000 villages of the state water service delivery is being given by the department. Ms Savdesh was also present in this program. The activities of the department are regularily monitored by Amit Talwar IAS.
