World skill day celebrated at all skill development centers

Jalandhar, July 17

Underscoring the significance of skill education, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh today on the occasion of world skill day said that it would transform the lives of unemployed youths by opening new vistas of employment for them.

The ADC who is also nodal officer of Punjab Skill Development Mission, Jalandhar stated that problems of unemployment and poverty could be overcome easily by imparting quality skill training to the youth. He asserted that Skill training in various courses could open up new avenues of employment for the youth, which was the need of the hour adding that skill training could also present several self employment opportunities for the youth thereby enabling them to live their lives with dignity and pride.

Mr. Singh further shared the steps being taken by the district administration to implement skill development program effectively in the district by roping in various industrial organization so that skill development program could be improvised as per the requirement of our industry. He also added that now skill development courses related to IT and Healthcare services were also being initiated keeping in view the emerging scenario.

Notably, the world skill day has been celebrated across the skill development centers in the district during which special skill competitions were held at these centers. The ADC added that as many as 80 youths were selected for the state level skill competition who would further get a chance to participate in the world skill competition. He exhorted youths to become active partners in this mission through maximum participation in this program.
