Woman officer to be new Commissioner of Chandigarh MC

Chandigarh 27 July 2021: Anindita Mitra a woman officer from Punjab will be new Commissioner of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation as per sources in the UT secretariat.
Her name has been cleared by Union Home Ministry recently and most probably it will be notified in the coming days as per reports.
Earlier in 2018 the Chandigarh Administration had recommended her name for the post of Managing Director, Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO) to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
But she did not join the posting and later on it was reported that she was debarred by Central government from central deputation for 3 years as per sources.
Lot of development works were launched and completed by the outgoing Commissioner of MC Kamal Yadav, whose deputation was to end on 22nd May 2021 but it was extended further for 3 months due to Covid 19 circumstances.
