SDO water resources catch 5 cases of Canal Water theft

Bathinda, 5 July 2019: Continuing its drive against water theft, the team of officials of the Bathinda Canal Division of the Water Resources department led by SDO Jagmeet Singh Bhaker has caught 5 canal water theft cases at Raike Feeder and Doomwali minor area on Friday morning.

The teams of the Irrigation Department led by XEN Gurjinder Singh Bahia have registered 23 cases of water theft across the Dadahur Sub Division and Teona distributory during the week.

Farmers of the villages located at the tail-ends of the canals are being deprived of their share of water due to unauthorised water stealing. Failure of the police to take action in the water theft cases is one the reasons in rise of the theft cases. “The accused are never scared of any legal action them, when the department forwards such cases to the concerned station for action, no action is initiated in the matter” says on Irrigation official.
