Campaign against drugs is underway with awareness programmes

Two women SHOs are strengthening the drive against drugs in district Sri Muktsar Sahib as well as their efforts are proving effective in the field of women empowerment.

Following the footsteps of SSP Manjit Singh Dhesi, SHO of Lakhewali police station Inspector Beant Kaur and SHO of Bariwala police station Sub-Inspector Rupinder kaur have started the participation of women on war against drugs.

Inspector Beant Kaur and Sub-Inspector Rupinder Kaur say that woman plays an important role in the family, even in society. Therefore, to prevent youth from drugs, woman should come forward in the war against drugs.

Under DAPO programme of Punjab Government, SHO Beant Kaur and Rupinder Kaur are contributing towards spreading awareness against drugs in their corresponding villages.

They are encouraging rural women, youth and old people to be part of this programme. Side by side, they make women aware regarding their legal rights against domestic violence, as well as they make women aware about Shakti App of Punjab police.

Their team showcases the movies against drugs to the youth so that they can realize the adverse effect of drugs.

Under this campaign household women are co-operating with SHOs to make people aware against drugs menace. Along with spreading awareness, SHOs warn people to take strict action against anyone found guilty under drug case.

Addressing the people in Chak Sherewala village, Beant kaur said that drugs have led to domestic violence, murders and more ever it is affecting the teenager that is why one should pay close attention to their children to keep them away from drugs because drugs are ruining the life of people.

Addressing in Madahar Kalan village, SHO Rupinder Kaur said that we must all stand together against drugs and should immediately inform the police, if anyone found selling the drugs and legal action should be taken against such people.

She said that instructions have been issued in villages to form committees to keep a close eye on drug smugglers. She ensures that soon they will put the board of drug free village, because their efforts are proving fruitful on drug war.
