Fatehgarh Sahib Administration Ready for Counting of Votes: DC

Fatehgarh Sahib, May 22, 2019: Votes of four assembly constituencies falling in Lok Sabha constituency Fatehgarh Sahib which includes Bassi Pathana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Amloh and Amargarh will be counted at counting centers established at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib and all the arrangements are up to the mark at the counted centers.

This was told by Dr. Prashant Kumar Goyal, District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib on Wednesday at Guru Granth Sahib University along with Shyamal Kishore Pathak, General Observer for Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha constituency while inspecting the arrangements for the counting of votes.

Dr. Goyal said that the counting process would be completed with full transparent manner. He further disclosed that the counting staff of 450 employees would count the votes at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University where 14 counting tables have been installed for each Assembly Constituency.

SSP Amneet Kondal said that the full proof security arrangements have been made and strict eye will be kept on mischievous elements and nobody would be allowed to disturb the law and order situation.

District administration of Sangrur has finalized the arrangements for the counting of the votes; the stage was all set for the completion of the counting of votes for the Sangrur Parliamentary Seat.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Ghanshyam Thori and SSP Sandeep Garg said that elaborate arrangements have been made for ensuring free, fair and transparent counting of votes for the Lok Sabha polls.
They said that adequate arrangements for security and counting of the votes have been done by the civil and Police administration. Both the officers said that no stone would be left unturned for ensuring that the entire process was completed peacefully.

Bathinda, 22 May 2019: Setting an example of brotherhood and harmony Sarawan Bodla a village in Lambi constituency always set up a combined polling booth during the elections. Leaders of the both old traditional parties SAD and Congress always establish a common booth outside the polling stations of the village, where all villagers do come and get the voter slips one by one and cast their votes.

Sarawan Bodla village is a part of the Lambi constituency represented by Former CM Parkash Singh Badal and it is one of the big villages with 5000 (five thousand) votes.

Sarawan Bodla is located in Malout Tehsil of Muktsar district, Punjab with total 949 families residing. The Sarawan Bodla village has population of 5597 of which 2954 are males while 2643 are females as per Population Census 2011.

“This may appear strange in a polarised society these days, but we take pride in our shared brotherhood,” a local resident, told representative of sarkar darbar.

The narrative of polarisation and division on the name of political parties has not taken away our belief that we are part of the same village and same family. It has never destroyed our cohesion over the long period, though we fight panchayat and local bodies’ elections on different party’s symbol” said Gurjeet Singh Sarpanch.

“I am feeling fortunate to be born in a village, where my elders have taken a wise decision given the existing situation in different parts of the state. I hope the society as a whole will take a lesson from the wise steps taken by our elders and isolate the elements bent upon to disturb the mutual trust and faith to save the state,” said Harjeet Singh Sandhu a PCS officer who belongs to this village.

This village has produced many civil and police officers, who have served on different posts in the state and country. Prominent among them are Dalip Singh Sandhu IAS, his two sons Mandeep Singh Sandhu IAS & Inderjit Sandhu. Harjeet Singh Sandhu PCS, Harpreet Singh Sandhu PPS and Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu IAS.

Doctor bites on wife’s nose

Bathinda, May 21

The civil line police Bathinda have booked one Dr Aman Mittal in a case of domestic violence, inflicting severe injuries to his wife. The accused bit on his wife’s nose and on different parts of the body. The victim has been admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

The victim is said to be a teacher in a school and the accused is the son of a prominent doctor in the city.

The victim said her husband got very angry while arguing, she made an effort to calm him down, but he did not listen and attacked her. She added that her husband bit her on the nose and caused injuries.

Investing Officer ASI Krishan Singh said on Tuesday, “The victim came to the police station and lodged a complaint against her husband. We got her admitted to the Civil Hospital. On the victim’s complaint, we have registered a case against her husband and started an investigation into the matter. The accused is on the run. We have launched a manhunt to nab him at the earliest.”

DC Jalandhar Casts his Vote along with his wife and chief Administrator JDA

The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and their wife Praveen Sharma along with Chief Administrator Jalandhar Development Authority Jitendra Jorwal today casted their vote at booth number 63 in Government Senior Secondary School Ladowali road.

Accompanied by their daughters, the Deputy Commissioner, his wife and Chief Administrator JDA exercised their franchise at the booth after showing their voter slip and identity cards to the polling staff. Interacting with the poling staff, the Deputy Commissioner said that they must discharge their duty with utmost sincerity and dedication to ensure that people were able to take part in this festival of democracy.

Sharma said that Jalandhar has always upheld the glorious tradition of voting enthusiastically to strengthen democracy at grass-root level.

Felicitates first time voter Meghul Katyal 

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also felicitated Meghul Katyal a resident of Master Tara Singh Nagar, a first time voter, who casted her vote first at the booth.

Sharma complimented the girl coming forward and using her Right to vote for becoming an active partner in socio-economic growth of the country. He also lauded the parents of the young voters who were encouraging their wards to cast their vote in the polls.

The Deputy Commissioner also visited the all women polling booth in the school and interacted with the polling staff on the occasion. He also lauded the women employees for imparting the poll duty diligently.

Sharma said that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction for all of us that women staff was playing a pivotal role in further strengthening the ethos of democracy in the country by discharging the duty efficaciously.

Officers spend the whole day in field for keeping a close tab

Despite of scorching heat, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal today led the civil and Police administration from front to ensure smooth, free, fair and peaceful Lok Sabha polls in Jalandhar.

Throughout the polling day Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police remained on their toes to ensure that the entire polling process was completed smoothly. The officers visited polling booths in different parts of the district to make sure that people were freely able to exercise their franchise.

During the visit the officers not only interacted with the people regarding the ongoing poll to have their feedback but they also enquired about the entire arrangements from the staff on polling duty.

Similarly, the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police also encouraged the young voters besides patting the back of the volunteer students deployed by administration at various polling booths. The officers also kept a strict vigil over the entire law and order situation by visiting the field.

Till the last vote was cast for the Lok Sabha polls the trio inspected the ongoing voting for smooth and hassle free conduct of polls.

Throughout the day the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police minutely observed the arrangements for the poll and gave unnecessary directions to officers / officials to ensure that no disturbance was created in poll process.

Besides going to the polling booths for enquiring about percentage of votes from the polling staff they also had detailed interaction with the voters, polling agents and candidates about the ongoing poll process. The officers also assessed the security arrangements at every polling booth and gave necessary directions to the officials deployed at the booths for the security.

Webcasting Scripts New Success Story in Ensuring Free, Fair and Transparent Polls

Internet Webcasting done by the administration at 957 polling booths of the Jalandhar Parliamentary Constituency scripted a new success story as it proved very helpful in ensuring free, fair and transparent polls in the district.

On the directions of the Election Commission of India, the administration had ensured webcasting at 957 polling booths of the constituency out of which 439 were considered vulnerable. out of these 957 booths 118 booths fall in Phillaur assembly segment, 126 in Nakodar assembly segment, 122 in Shahkot, 110 in Kartarpur, 101 in Jalandhar West, 80 in Jalandhar Central, 88 in Jalandhar North, 105 in Jalandhar Cantt and 107 in Adampur assembly segment.

Dedicated staff was appointed by the administration to operate these cameras and keep a strict vigil at every activity going on at the polling booth.

Since morning senior officers including Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar visited the control room for the Webcasting set up at the District Administrative Complex to keep a close tab over the entire situation.

Internet enabled technique was installed at 957 booths 

The officers kept a close tab over vulnerable polling booths which were under their direct observation through webcasting. The officers also passed on necessary directions to the staff deployed at the booths to ensure free, fair and transparent polls in the district.

Pertinently, as a part of district administration’s firm commitment to ensure peaceful and neutral polling webcasting was ensured at the 957 booths for which web cameras, wi-fi routers and dedicated staff was installed for keeping a strict vigil over the polling process.

The live monitoring of the polling process on these booths assured which was regularly supervised by senior officers.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday met Congress President Rahul Gandhi at his residence probably to discuss possible alliances in the post-election scenario.

Chandrababu Naidu met Uttar Pradesh’s former Chief Ministers Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Saturday evening.

Chandrababu Naidu also met CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday and discussed with them the possibility of a tie-up in the post-results scenario.

The Website of the Lokpal was inaugurated by the Chairperson, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose in presence of all the Members of Lokpal on Thursday.  The DG, NIC, Neeta Verma was also present on the occasion.  The Website has been developed by NIC and provides the basic information with respect to the working and functioning of the Lokpal. The Website can be accessed at http://lokpal.gov.in.

Lokpal is the first institution of its kind in independent India

The Lokpal is the first institution of its kind in independent India, established under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013 to inquire and investigate into allegations of the corruption against public functionaries who fall within the scope and ambit of the above Act.

The Government appointed Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, as the first Chairperson of the Lokpal who was administered oath on 23rd March, 2019 by the President of India. The Government has also appointed four Judicial and four non-Judicial Members.  The office of Lokpal is temporary functioning from the Hotel Ashok, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.

The process of notifying the rules and regulations including the format for receiving complaints is being developed.  All complaints which were received till 16th April, 2019 have been examined by the Office of Lokpal and disposed accordingly. The Complaints received thereafter are under examination.

The Lokpal consists of a Chairperson and eight members. Four of the judicial members have been former Chief Justices of different High Courts and the four non-judicial members have been from All India Services/Central Services. The Chairperson and members bring with them rich experience and probity, which they have maintained in the public offices that they have held.

First Chairperson of the Lokpal is Shri Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, who is a former Judge of Supreme Court of India and was a sitting member of National Human Rights Commission.
