Feedback given by GOGs would provide more transparency in works: DC
DC directs SDMs and department heads to take timely action on the feedback

Jalandhar, July 4- Aiming to provide the benefits of the programs initiated by the state government to all people, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Wednesday held a meeting with the Guardians of Governance (GoGs) and solicited their support for making these schemes more successful.
Presiding over a meeting held in the district administrative complex, Deputy Commissioner said that the valuable feedback received from the GoGs was very helpful for the administration to remove shortcomings if any.
Sharma said that by acting as ‘Eyes and Ears’ of the state government and the district administration, the GoGs were doing marvelous service for the society.
Meanwhile, in the meeting, GOGs gave their recommendations for the schemes like Atta-Dal, Water Supply & Sanitation and belonging to health Education departments, the GoGs sought the personal intervention of Deputy Commissioner for further streamlining them.
They advocated a review of the beneficiaries of the Atta-Dal scheme that only genuine beneficiaries can get its benefits and ineligible can be weeded out from the lists of beneficiaries.
They also suggested that during the distribution of wheat to beneficiaries under Atta-Dal scheme, the food and supply department must intimate the time well in advance to the beneficiaries in the villages and there must be an inspector and weighing machine on the spot, so that the only real beneficiaries can be benefited and transparency can be maintained in the distribution process.
Likewise, they said that the cleanliness of toilets, timely availability of uniforms and shoes, books and playgrounds must be ensured in the government schools.
They also told that regular chlorination of Water Tanks in the villages and time-table of water delivery must be fixed.
They also suggested the deputy commissioner to asking the health department for deputing medical specialists on a weekly basis in the government health institutions in the rural areas.
They also urged Sharma to give necessary directions to the health department for starting the facility of issuing of disability certificate from government hospitals in rural areas so that the needy people can be benefitted locally on which DC directed SDMs to start holding camps in their sub-divisions where needy can visit and avail the facility at their doorsteps.
Welcoming the suggestions of the GoGs, the Deputy Commissioner said that the administration would take appropriate steps to ensure that feedbacks given by the GoGs were resolved at the earliest.
The GOGs were represented by Major General (Retd.) Balwinder Singh, Colonel (Retired) Balbir Singh, Colonel (Retd) Vijay Kumar, Captain (Retd) RS Parmar and others.
On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioners Kulwant Singh and Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Paramvir Singh, Amit Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Charumita, Assistant Commissioners Shayari Malhotra, Dr Anupreet Kaur, District Food and Supply Controller Narinder Singh, District Program Officer Amarjeet Singh Bhullar and others were also present.
