ਪਹਿਨਾਵਾ-2019 ਦੇ ਸਿਰਲੇਖ ਹੇਠ ਰਣਬੀਰ ਕਲੱਬ  ਵਿਖੇ ਲਗਾਈ ਗਈ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨ ਚੱਲੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਸਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਡਾ. ਗਗਨ ਕੁੰਦਰਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬੱਚੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਮਨਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਛੁਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਲਾਈ ਕਢਾਈ ਦਾ ਕਿੱਤਾ ਵੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਸਾਬਿਤ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰੈਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੀ ਤਰਫੋਂ ਗਰੀਬ ਤੇ ਲੋੜਵੰਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਸਮੇਂ-ਸਮੇਂ ‘ਤੇ ਬਿਹਤਰੀਨ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਲਾਈ ਕਢਾਈ ਦੇ ਕੋਰਸ ਵੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਪਰਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕੋਰਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿਖਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਲਾਈ ਕਢਾਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਤੇ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਰਸ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਇਹ ਹੋਰ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰ ਦਾ ਫੈਲਾਓ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਲਈ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਬੈਂਕਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਰਜ਼ੇ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰੈਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਸੁਧੀਰ ਮੋਦਗਿੱਲ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।

Matru Vandana Yojana proves boon for pregnant women

Women can apply through Anganwadi Centres

Pradhan Mantry Matru Vandana Yojana launched by the government is proving boon for pregnant women. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 5000 is given to the beneficiary in three installments for nutritious diet.

While giving the detail Rattandeep Sandhu, District Program Officer said that this financial assistance is being provided by the government for pregnant women, who have their pregnancy for first child. The woman, who is working for government or Semi-government Corporation, is not eligible under this scheme. Eligible women can submit their applications through Anganwadi Centres.

The District Program Officer said that under the scheme, beneficiary can get the first installment of Rs 1000 on early registration of pregnancy at Anganwadi Centre. Pregnant woman can get second installment of Rs 2000 after 6 months of pregnancy at least one anti natal check up and third installment of Rs 2000 after registration of child birth and after the completion of first step of vaccination.

District Program Officer said that under this scheme 6660 beneficiaries have been given first installment, second installment to 6,193 and third installment have been given to 4132 beneficiaries. He said that under the scheme financial help to the beneficiaries is sent direct through the bank account. This scheme will helpful in reducing the death rate of the child, he added.

Villagers would get relief from foul smell and overflowing of contaminated water: Deputy Commissioner

Barnala, July 3:

Under mission ‘Tandarust Punjab’ and following the directions of Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government, the process of cleaning and de-silting of ponds in the villages of Barnala district is in full swing and will be completed before the monsoon season to provide clean and hygienic environment to the rural area residents.

Deputy Commissioner Barnala Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka said that there are as many as 311 ponds in the district, out of which 224 required to be cleaned and out of them 142 ponds has been already dewatered by the panchayat department. He said that the process of de-silting has also been commenced on 73 ponds across the district.

Deputy Commissioner said that removal of suspended silt or other earthly material from the ponds would help to reduce the risk of spreading diseases in the monsoon due to contaminated water. He added that besides this, it would also help to lessen the chances of overflowing of pond water which would ensure the hygienic and eco-friendly environment of in the villages.

He said that the officials of Rural Development and Panchayat department have been instructed to speed up the cleaning and de-silting process and reports were being submitted to the government on routine basis.

Meanwhile, District Development and Panchayat Officer Sanjeev Sharma said that in Barnala block, 112 out of total 132 ponds were required to be cleaned, out of which dewatering has been started in 45 ponds and as 24 water bodies were being desilted. He said that in the Mehal Kalan block, only 63 ponds of 86 were required to be cleaned and dewatering process from all of them has been started while desilting process have been started on 29 bodies.

He added that in Shehna block, 49 out of 93 ponds needed cleaning, out of which 34 were being de-watered and silt has been removed from as many as 12 ponds. He said that the cleaning process upon 42 ponds have already been finished across the district.

Sharma said that by increasing the depth of the pond by removing the silt, the people of the villages would get relief from the foul smell and contaminated water. He added that it would also ease the problem of water logging in the drains and low-lying houses around the ponds.

Panchayats urged to provide 15 acres one-stretch land for the project

State Level Project Screening Committee will select the land

Fazilka, July 2:

Deputy Commissioner Manpreet Singh Chhatwal today said that to generate income from zero-earning waste lands and utilize saline affected land of the district, the government has proposed Fish Seed Farm Project worth Rs.10 crore for the district, for which 15 acres one-stretch government or Panchayati land is required.

He expressed hope that after the commissioning of this prestigious project of fisheries, an allied occupation of agriculture, the farmers of this border district would definitely be prosperous.

Chhatwal said that the farmers of the district are earning handsome profit by doing fish and shrimp culture in this saline affected area. “Almost 1,702 acres of area is under fish culture and 137 acres under shrimp culture in Fazilka district and farmers are successfully running this occupation and making profit out of it”, he added.

He said that now the government has proposed to launch multi-crores project in the district, in which Government Fish Seed Farm under RKVY scheme would be set up. He said that this farm would facilitate fish farmers an easy availability of quality fish seed at subsidized rates.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the government has already released the first instalment worth Rs.5 crore for this project and as soon as the district administration would provide the land and State Level Screening Committee will select the chunk of land; the work for this project will be started.

Deputy Commissioner urged Gram Panchayats of the district to provide 15 acres one-stretch land to establish this fish seed farm having tremendous potential to improve the economy of the farmers. Manisha Gulati visits women police station

Jalandhar, July 2- Chairperson of Punjab State Women Commission Manisha Gulati on Tuesday directed the police to start awareness drive to sensitize the women about their rights in the district.

Manisha Gulati, who visited the women police station and held a meeting with ADCP (Headquarters) Sachin Gupta and others, said that the drive must be initiated from the educational institutions including schools, colleges or university level following ward and village wise.

She said that she would actively participate in the drive and the commission will leave no stone unturned in making every woman aware of her rights.

The Chairperson asked women police station to give a detailed report regarding serious and long pending complaints to the commission so that speedy justice can be provided to the victims with its direct involvement.

She said that all the complaints must be settled within the stipulated time without causing any kind of undue delay after a thorough probe.

During her visit, Gulati met various complainants, said that the commission has taken note of such complaints during visits to the other districts.

Satish Chandra IAS is new Home Secretary of Punjab

Bathinda, 01 July 2019: Punjab government has appointed Satish Chandra IAS of 1985 batch who is serving as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Health and Family Welfare as Home Secretary. He is a very hard working and dedicated officer.

Known for simplicity, Satish Chandra is one of the very upright officers of the state. He is a result oriented officer and has given excellent output, wherever he is posted.   His joining in the Home department will be an advantage for the people who are connected with the department as he known for taking quick decisions.

Satish Chandra has served as Member (Finance) in the National Highway Authority of India, from 2013 to June 2016 for three years. He has brought in many changes in the functioning of NHAI, which has accelerated the pace of the road projects. It was the time when, numbers of cases related with the state were fast tracked in NHAI.

Satish Chandra has also served as Planning and Finance Secretary and later on as Health, Family Planning, Medical Education and Research Secretary in the state. During his stint in the planning department, he has streamlined the functioning the District Planning Boards, which are lying defunct these days. Funds of hundreds of Crores were spent through these boards in the districts and regular meetings were done.

During his tenure as Secretary in the Health department, Satish Chandra activated the schemes of the National Health Mission in the state. Hundreds of posts lying vacant under the National Health Mission were filled in a transparent manner and central funds were utilised in stipulated time and lots of infrastructure was built in the civil hospitals of the state.

Famous 100 feet road in Bathinda city, which is considered as life line of the city is a result of the strong willed efforts of Satish Chandra. He as an administrator of MC Bathinda removed 18 encroachments done by the influential people on this road in single day. He is still memorised for carrying out this action by the people of Bathinda. The extent of interest in implementing the anti drug campaign being shown by the district administration of Sangrur can be very well gauged from the recent precedent set by the administration.

A 32 year old guy Gagan Kumar was so much drowned in the well of drugs that life seemed to be a curse, but today the situation is that this young man has not only quit the drug but he also gets employment and he is now very well earning a bread for his family. It’s all due to the effort of district administration Sangrur led by Ghanshyam Thori Deputy Commissioner.

Due to poor financial condition and poor company of friends, this young life became a victim drug addiction. Drugs had started playing with his family and social life and he was being considered as bane for the family.

The young boy who was trapped in the well of drug addiction, was himself destroying the future of his widow mother, wife and two children as he was not able to feed his family.

Bane turned into boon when this drug addicts mother came to know about the Punjab Government’s anti drug campaign.

Widow mother then knocked the door district administration, and urged the officials to save her son. She apprised the district administration that her son’s wife and two children are forced to live in a hell like situation due to the drug addiction of her son.

District administration immediately got the boy admitted in drug addiction center in Sangrur for treatment, and assured the family of all possible help.

During the treatment, Gagan told Mohan Sharma, Project Director of Drug De-addiction centre, that he owed a house rent of Rs 20,000 to the landlord as he could not pay rent due to his drug addiction habit.

Project Director brought this matter to the notice of the district administration which, after listening to this, provided a grant of Rs 20,000 to the family and also arranged another house for them in Sangrur.

Gagan, after the motivation of District administration, took treatment for about a month and a half at the Drug de-addiction Center and now he is out of the drug menace completely. District administration also provided employment to the boy in Maruti Company. This young man Gagan is now living a good life with his family and is also motivating others to shun drug.

Bhupindra Road receives a facelift with 480 lakh rupees Project

New road, Victorian era lights and new Parking lot of 1 lakh sq ft ready.

Patiala, June 30

Member Parliament Preneet Kaur represented the demand of the residents of Patiala to give a complete facelift to Bhupindra Road Patiala which carries historic significance.

The Chief Minister approved the proposal and with an expenditure of around 480 lakhs, the Bhupindra Road is receiving an all renewed look. Explaining in detail, the Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Amit informed that this project is being completed in two phases.

In the first phase, Bhupindra Road received new premix. After acquisition of land from the Forest department electricity and telephone poles have been shifted all the way from Thapar College to Leela Bhawan.

Deputy Commissioner disclosed that a new and neat parking of 1 lakh square feet has been constructed in front of the showrooms on both sides of the road with interlocking tiles. The vacant spaces on both sides of the road will also be made beautiful with the interlocking tiles.

The DC further informed that the Chief Minister instructed the Bhupindra Road to be given an ancient heritage look and the PWD has, in the second phase of the project, installed LED lights of Victorian look worth rupees 21 lakh as well as installed benches of ancient look for the convenience of passersby.

The DC said that a new pipeline has also been installed for draining the rain water. The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to the residents to support and cooperate with the Municipal Corporation & district administration in keeping their city neat and clean and to park their vehicles in the newly constructed parking space in proper order. Team of Irrigation officials led by XEN Gurjinder Bahia catches 23 cases of Canal Water theft

Police taking no action despite written complaints forwarded by department

Bathinda, 29 June 2019: The team of officials of the Bathinda Canal Division of the Irrigation department led by Executive Engineer Gurjinder Singh Bahia has caught 16 canal water theft cases in Dadahur Sub Division area on Friday morning.

The Irrigation Department has registered 23 cases of water theft across the Dadahur Sub Division and Teona distributory in the past one week; farmers of the villages located at the tail-ends of the canals are being deprived of their share of water due to unauthorised water stealing. Dadahur division falls in Barnala district whereas Teona distributory in Bathinda district.

7 cases caught by SDO Jagmeet Singh Bhaker

A number of incidents of drawing water through illegal pipes from the Teona distribution line had been uncovered today early morning at 2.00 am by the SDO Teona sub division Jagmeet Singh Bhaker and his staff. They caught 7 unauthorised pipes between DO 4000 of Doomwali minor and between RD 37000- 2000.

Sources say the canal water theft is on the rise since the beginning of the paddy cultivation and the farmers in the tail end are not getting adequate water to irrigate their fields due to these unauthorised stealing.

The farmers usually indulge in water theft at the time of paddy cultivation, which needs considerable amount of water. They either put rubber pipes in canals or drains or draw water through by using engines

But the efforts made by officials of the Irrigation Department to check canal water theft are proving ineffective as the police department is not cooperating in the matter. The officials of the Irrigation department catches the water thefts cases and forward these cases to police for further action, and the police takes no action in the matter. Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today exhorted under training IAS officers to make firm resolve for discharging their duties with utmost dedication, sincerity, honesty and professional commitment.

Interacting with four under training IAS officers of Punjab Cadre Mr. Ankurjeet Singh, Mr. Varjeet Walia, Mr. Viraj Tidke and Mr. T Benith, who called on them at Deputy Commissioner’s office in District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that it was matter of great pride and satisfaction for them that four new young officers have been allotted Punjab cadre to serve the state.

They said that with this a fresh young blood has been infused in the functioning of state administration and hoped that these newly appointed officers would certainly take the state to the zenith of its glory.

The officers called upon the officers to serve the public with missionary zeal to ensure their well being and to put the state further on high growth trajectory.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police congratulated them for cracking the UPSC Exam successfully and subsequently got selected on the coveted posts exclusively on their merit and capability.

Wishing them a promising career and a bright future ahead, they asked the officers to serve the society with full enthusiasm and devotion for cherishing their aspirations by implementing the policies and programs of the state government in the right earnest.

Both the officers also asked the young IAS officers that they were fortunate enough to have got Punjab cadre for serving on this state, which was the cradle of culture and civilization in the country.
