Stating this today Deputy Commissioner B.Srinivasan said that the district administration is providing all possible help to the village society so that the center may start its functioning at the earliest.

As per Gurcharan Mann-chairman of the society which is setting up this project an amount of Rs 88 lakhs were received for the construction of the building from where the Honey Cluster Center would be operated in the village.

He said that the most time consuming part of this project was the construction of building which has to be done as per the design and layout provided by the government.

He said that the fourth stage of the building has been completed and a letter in connection with the completion of this stage has been received from the District Industries Center-Bathinda on June-10.

He said that this center would become a unique project where not only honey would be collected and prepared for the packing and sale but it will also be equipped with machines to make everything required for beekeeping.

Sharing the details of the project he said that the proposed interventions in the center would include honey processing unit (filtration machine) which costs roughly around Rs 25 lakhs, honey packing machine including capping, wrapping and labeling, automatic plastic moulding machine (honey packing jar), automatic bee wax sheet making machine, automatic drone wax sheet making, automatic PET machine (bucket macking), wooden bee box automatic machine, wooden frame making automatic machine, royal jelly extractor and drier machine, bee accessories making machine including –tool, queen, cage queen gate, pollen trape, smoker etc, bee venom extractor machine, automatic bottle washer and drier machine, pollen drier and packing machine, card board packing machines, lamination machine, die punching machine, cutting machine, stitching machine and case making machine.  “The cost of these machines varies between Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs,” Mann said.

He said that this project was accorded approval on December 20, 2016 after which the foundation stone of the building, in one acre area, was done by the then Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda-Praneet Bhardwaj.

Officials of the Horticulture Department Bathinda also paid a visit at the under construction building of the center on Monday and got firsthand information about the ongoing work. Deputy Director of Horticulture Department Darshan Pal and Horticulture Development Officer Reena Rani said that Bathinda is excelling in the production of honey as compared to all the other districts of Punjab.

They said that their department is encouraging farmers to opt for beekeeping for which they are providing subsidy, free training and help for the farmers having little or no landholding.

Passing of National Medical Commission Bill in LS will be remembered as the ‘Black Day’ in history of Medical education: Dr Vitull

By Amrit Pal Brar

Bathinda, 30 July

Dr. Vitull K. Gupta, Chairman, Association of Physicians of India (Malwa Branch) said that passing of National Medical Commission Bill in Lok Sabha yesterday will be remembered as the ‘Black Day’ in history of medical education as NMC bill has all the ingredient to ruin medical education by proposing to regulate fees up to 50% of seats in private medical colleges, a common entrance exam and licentiate, the National Exit Test (NEXT) for medical graduates, medical institutions need not take the regulator’s permission to add more seats or start PG course, no checks for quality of medical colleges and education, fewer elected members, dilution of state medical councils powers and representation to the states by rotation making NMC Bill an anti poor, anti people, anti doctor and anti federal law, which will promote production of substandard doctors especially in unregulated private medical colleges compromising the merit as only those who can pay will be able to afford the expansive medical education.

Dr. Vitull said that Medical Council of India even under Board of Governors miserably failed to maintain the standard of Medical Education as gross unethical and illegal practices during MCI inspections where very common and open and MCI inspectors ignored the gross deficiencies like rented patients, ghost faculty, dummy case files and factitious death and birth registers under the hypnotizing influence of cash or kind and gave recognition to run the medical college.

Yet out of fear of inspections the private medical, colleges tried to improve the conditions, but if there is no fear of inspections, one can very well imagine what will happen to the medical colleges, he said further.

Dr. Vitull said that government should have initiated radical reforms targeting MCI rather than enacting the disastrous and dangerous NMC Bill.

As Health and human rights activist Dr. Vitull appealed to all the doctors and civil society to strongly oppose NMC Bill to save medical education as well as the ethical health care.

As per the details the department has initiated the drive to plant 15000 saplings in the first phase and the rest would be planted afterwards. The plantation drive on these roads would be completed within the monsoon season without any sort of delay.

Meanwhile, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Jatinder Sharma reviewed the plantation drive initiated by the department and asked the officers to ensure that work was completed in a time bound and professional manner.

He also asked the officers to install tree guards for proper protection, upkeep and maintenance of the saplings. Sharma said that this drive would be a humble and befitting drive to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji by the department.

On the occasion, Divisional Forest Officer Rajesh Gulati and Forest Range Officers Davinder Pal Singh apprised the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests that traditional varieties of trees like Moulsari, Kadam, Putranjeeva, Jacaranda, Pilkan, Bahera, Neem, Shisham, Mulberry, Bohar, Pipal, Kaner, Amaltaas, Mango and others were being planted during this drive. They further said that native species of shrubs like haar shingar, chandni, jangal jalebi and others were also being planted.
